Equal and Adequate Access to Health Care free essay sample
I support a ââ¬Å"national health care system that provides equal and adequate access to health services for all citizensâ⬠because of the following reasons: First of all, providing an ââ¬Å"equal and adequate access to health careâ⬠is the ethical thing to do; in fact, ââ¬Å"John Rawlsâ⬠states that a moral and fair society would ensure ââ¬Å"personal freedomsâ⬠as long as such does not restrict the liberty/independence of other individuals and would uphold equal opportunity (Engelhard et. al. 1 ââ¬â 22). Simply put, I support it because it is the right thing to do, at least basing on moral standards (Engelhard et. al. 1 ââ¬â 22). Second, ââ¬Å"equal and adequate access to health careâ⬠is a basic right and since it is so then it should be supported (Engelhard et. al. 1 ââ¬â 22). It is said that if it is oneââ¬â¢s right, then the government is obliged to ensure everybody ââ¬Å"equal and adequate access to health careâ⬠(Engelhard et. No one then should be deprived of this right (Engelhard et. al. 1 ââ¬â 22). Last but not least, life is exceedingly important; it should not only be maintained, it should also be of best quality (Engelhard et. al. 1 ââ¬â 22). An ââ¬Å"equal and adequate access to health careâ⬠should then be supported since a personââ¬â¢s well-being should be preserved because in return, an individual or any member of the society ââ¬Å"participates in the social and economic life of societyâ⬠(Engelhard et. al. 1 ââ¬â 22). If individuals get an ââ¬Å"equal and adequate access to health careâ⬠and they function well then they usually also get their ââ¬Å"fair share in the full participation in societyâ⬠(Engelhard et. al. 1 ââ¬â 22). This means that an ââ¬Å"equal and adequate access to health careâ⬠is not only for the people but for the government and the society entirely (Engelhard et. al. 1 ââ¬â 22).
